Little devil inside system requirements11/20/2023 ![]() ![]() Crowds are the biggest problem, and we've heard of visitors waiting 1-2 hours in line for a shuttle with empty seats. Using the shuttle was the best option for us, but it's not hassle-free. ![]() This was not a factor for my family, but I'm glad that it's available. All the Going-to-the-Sun shuttles are ADA accessible. Using the shuttle reduces emissions and traffic congestion. Shuttles use bio-diesel fuel and modern low emissions engines. Glacier's glaciers are shrinking rapidly due to climate change. We hate hunting for parking, so this was reason enough to use the shuttle. Expect parking lots and pull outs to be full by 8 or 9 AM. My husband and I both wanted to look at the scenery instead of the road, so we let a professional drive for us. ![]() The Going-to-the-Sun shuttle is a complimentary park service. Here are the reasons we chose to use the shuttle: You can drive your own car any time the road is open. Learn more at the official Glacier website at. Shuttles are available from July 1 through Labor Day, with limited service before and after those dates. Have you used the new reservation system? If so, please share what you learned and what worked for you! Use the comment section below. There are so many beautiful places on the west side of Glacier to visit! It's a 2.5 hour drive from Kalispell to St. Use the shuttle from the east side, where reservations don't seem to be required (double check when you call). If you don't get a reservation, consider getting up very early and driving to the east side of the park via the highway.Be ready to claim a reservation the moment they become available, using the fastest internet connection you can find. If that doesn't solve your problem, get online before 8 AM on the day before you need the reservation.Make sure that it will actually work for you. When you book, call and ask how long the service pass is good for. Consider booking a tour that will get you in (if you can). If that doesn't solve your problem, consider one of the exceptions listed on the reservation page at.Call back at another time or ask to be transferred if the person who picks up the phone doesn't seem knowledgeable or helpful enough. A local expert should give you the very best info. Ask if there is a way to access the shuttle from the west side without a reservation. If you need a reservation to access the shuttle on the west side for Summer 2022, here's what I'd do… You'll already be on your trip by then, so it's risky to wait. Advance reservations go fast (they are already gone for Summer 2022), but more reservations will be available one day in advance at 8 AM Mountain Time. I'm basing this on these two pages on the official Glacier National Park website.īut if you are staying on the west side of the park, getting a reservation is the easiest way to access the shuttle or drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Mary Visitor Center/shuttle stop on the east side of the park, so you should be able to park there and use the shuttle with or without a reservation. Related: Our One-day Itinerary for Going-to-the-Sun Road Do you have a reservation?Īs of 2022, it appears that you need a reservation to drive in through the west entrance to the park and board the shuttle at the Apgar Visitor Center. A reservation is not required to visit the St. However, it is often crowded because Glacier is a popular park and the season is so short. Many visitors want to savor it, stopping at trails and viewpoints along the way. The Going-to-the-Sun Road is spectacular. The famous Going-to-the-Sun Road is 50 miles long, and only open from about July-September, due to heavy and long-lasting winter snow. The most scenic section of this narrow and winding two-lane road is carved into the side of a steep mountain. Here are my tips for a good experience on the Glacier National Park shuttle on Going-to-the-Sun Road. I haven't personally used this new system, but I have a few tips for how to make it work for you – especially if all the advance reservations are already gone! Most of my experience is still current, but the park started requiring reservations in 2022. We spent a full day on Going-to-the-Sun Road, and can now answer those questions. We had a lot of questions and concerns about shuttle schedules, crowds, amenities, and more before our trip. It's a hop-on-hop-off bus that runs between Apgar Visitor Center on the west side and St. You can drive your own car, but we chose to use the free Glacier National Park shuttle. Riding this scenic road is one of the most popular things to do in Glacier, and it's the only road through the park. Planning a trip to Glacier National Park in Montana? We visited this spectacular park in 2019, and Going-to-the-Sun Road was one of our top priorities. ![]()

The average pool owner spends $1,080 to $1,800 per year on professional pool services, but you can save if you do pool maintenance as a DIY job. Costs vary depending on the frequency of cleaning and whether you have a raised in-ground pool or a sunken above-ground pool. Maintenance CostsĬhemicals, cleanings, and professional pool services will cost around $115 per month. To get a more accurate estimate for your partial in-ground pool cost, consider the costs of the following factors specific to your project. These can push the price of your project toward the higher end. This includes the price to excavate land, install the pool, wire electricity, pour cement, and add decorative elements such as lights, heaters, water features, retaining walls, bar space, stamped concrete, stonework, and more. Total semi-inground pool prices range from $7,000 to $24,000, including materials and labor. Check with your local government to learn about required permits for this project and how much building permits cost. PermitsĬhances are, you need a permit to install a semi-above-ground pool. If you’re looking to save, try converting a small above-ground pool kit or opt for a smaller in-ground style. The bigger your pool, the higher your costs due to the increase in materials and labor required to excavate and install. Check with each manufacturer to see the unit’s capabilities before trying to place part of it underground, and talk with a semi-inground pool dealer to find the cost for each brand. But, as you will see, modern Macs should be able to handle the task just fine. Indeed, this can be too much for certain older systems out there. The way around this is to have macOS “scale” the display to a more ideal lower resolution, but choosing that option in display preferences presents a warning: “Using a scaled resolution may affect performance.” What the OS does here is to scale up the chosen resolution to double height and double width (4x the pixels displayed) and then scale them back down to the display’s native resolution - 60 times per second. The thing with 4K displays is that in their typical native 3840×2160 resolution, they present the UI elements far too small, while the system-suggested half-resolution rendering is a sharp “looks like” 1920×1080 display where the UI elements appear too large - there’s too little desktop real estate. This is, presumably, why Apple’s Retina displays are 5K rather than 4K. Halving the native display resolution is easy peasy for GPU hardware - a small lift. A 5K Apple display has a native resolution of 5120×2880 and the default view mode is a “looks like” 2560×1440 desktop - razor sharp. (I do not game on my desktop Mac nor do I watch feature films, so a more traditional 16:9 aspect ration has little value to me here.) I’ve had this system up and running for two months now and I can say that, of all the displays I’ve ever used, this one is my favorite.ĭoing research to spec out the screen for this iMac replacement, I encountered a large number of people lamenting the use of 4K displays with Macs, noting that the Apple 5K displays, with a 218 pixel/inch density, allow for a computationally easy halving of the native display resolution to achieve an ideal desktop rendering. A perfect screen for my use cases as a general UNIX system and web development workstation. It is “ tall” in its normal orientation, but I’ve chosen to use it rotated which makes it look rather square ( a great orientation for this display). It’s an unusual display it is a 16:18 aspect panel with a native resolution of 2560×2880. During our first run with the mower, we timed the assembly process and made careful notes about how clear and simple the included directions were. When Adam finds the knight's (his son's) body, he almost succumbs to death (the Keeper) as well, before remembering that he has to make sure that Lizzie is safe. She gives Lizzie a note, most likely something along the lines of her telling Lizzie to kill herself where her parents died just like she planned with her husband, so Lizzie, now completely alone, does so. I believe the Keeper is supposed to represent Death and the serpent represents his wife, hence how he was able to kill the serpent, but of course he was powerless against Death), and she later succumbs to her wounds because her husband was able to fight back. The knight's wife, however, rejected her adoptive daughter, and was completely broken over her biological daughter's death, leading her to be abusive and neglectful at home, and wanting to kill herself and her husband so that they could be with their biological daughter. A fire started in the apartment Lizzie lived in, and the knight saved her from it, but was too late to save her parents. The knight's biological daughter/the wanderer's biological granddaughter killed herself because of constant bullying.
